Instrumental Encounter

Exploring Brittany Music with Trio Eris
Limited places

Ahead of their concert at the AMR later that evening at 9:00 p.m., the musicians of Trio Eris invite audiences to discover the musical traditions of Upper Brittany and the contemporary forms of the fest-noz. This informal presentation offers an introduction not only to Breton singing, but also to some of its distinctive vocal styles, as well as the role of the biniou(Breton bagpipe) and the bombarde (traditional double-reed instrument) in these musical traditions. The musicians will also demonstrate how these practices continue to inspire the trio's own sound, through the diatonic accordion and saxophones.

Mannaïg Le Guével,  vocals, bombarde
Clément Bobinet,  diatonic accordion
Youn Lebreton,  saxophones, biniou
