This workshop offers an opportunity to explore the close relationship between music and dance in the Shetland tradition. Led by Shetland musician and dancer Martha Thomson, a member of the all-female Shetland folk group Herkja, it will be accompanied live by Maurice Henderson and the musicians of Haltadans.

To help participants prepare, two 45-minute introductory Scottish dance sessions, organised in collaboration with the GSCDC, will be held at the Necker School gymnasium on Thursday 12 November and Thursday 19 November at 6:00 p.m. (Introductory session fee: CHF 10.- per session.)

On Saturday evening, a Shetland session will take place at the Pickwick Pub. Workshop participants will be invited to join the musicians for selected tunes. The evening will also include social dancing.
