Documentary film by Christophe Maillet and Gérard Pont, 2017, 60 min.
Screening followed by an introduction and discussion with Joanne McIver and Jean-Sébastien Tingaud.
To open the festival, the documentary Scotland, Lands of Legend invites audiences to follow Joanne McIver on a musical journey through her native Scotland, exploring island landscapes, singing traditions, bagpipes, dance, and worlds of legend.
The film reveals Scotland as a richly diverse cultural landscape, where voices, stories, scenery, and musical traditions interact without being confined to a single, fixed notion of "Celtic identity." Instead, these living traditions continue to be passed on, reshaped, and reimagined, inspiring contemporary culture and creativity.
