Eris Trio

Brittany music of today

Eris, a trio from Rennes (France), captures the infectious energy of the festoù-noz, Brittany's traditional community dance gatherings, where people come together in circles and chain dances.

The group's name refers to Eris, the Greek goddess of discord. Rather than embracing conflict as a programme, the musicians begin from the observation that the world is marked by tensions, and that music—especially the music of the fest-noz—still has the power to bring people together despite their differences.

Carried by the ethereal voice of Mannaïg Le Guével, the trio breathes new life into the musical heritage of Upper Brittany through a contemporary musical approach. In search of fresh sonic colours, the diatonic accordion and saxophones open up new creative possibilities while remaining deeply rooted in tradition.
