Within the Ateliers d’ethnomusicologie, La Burbuja has been able to develop her teaching method for children.
Coming from a classically trained background, La Burbuja focuses on teaching a series of technical exercises that allow for the development of grace. Classes offer insight into flamenco through rhythm and movement. They are based on warm-ups, feet techniques and arm movements, as well as rhythmic exercises using palmas and other percussion mediums. Linked steps are also taught at a level adapted to the children.
The flamenco dancer Michelle Gagnaux, known as the Burbuja, trained with masters such as Manolo Marin, Carmen Ledesma, Pilar Ortega, Maria del mar Moreno and Alejandro Granados in Seville. In Switzerland, she studied under Bernardo Mendes, Ana la China and Antonio Perujo. From 1998 to 2003 she was part of the company Ballet Antonio in Renens.
She regularly works as a soloist in diverse flamenco ensembles. In 2006, she put on her own show in several theatres across Swiss Romandie and organised a workshop in Seville in collaboration with Carmen Ledesma. She also ran workshops in Switzerland and Germany.
Parallel to this, she teaches in several towns across Swiss Romandie. She has also created interactive conference demonstrations in line with her research project on the spread of flamenco and cultural identity, which she has presented in several Swiss schools.
