This flamenco workshop, guided by the grace and fiery spirit of Karen Lugo, is an invitation to step into the soul of rhythm and movement.
Between alegrías and guajiras, dancers—intermediate or advanced—will explore the heartbeat of the compás and the expressive power of the moving body. Karen Lugo brings a flamenco that is vibrant and alive, constantly in dialogue with tradition. Her teaching blends discipline and freedom, offering everyone the opportunity to refine their technique and discover their own voice through dance.

Originally from Mexico, Karen Lugo is a flamenco dancer and choreographer internationally acclaimed for her bold and expressive interpretation of the art. Combining deep technical mastery, cultural grounding, and fearless artistic exploration, she represents a new generation of artists who reinvent flamenco without betraying its roots.
She has collaborated with major figures on the flamenco scene such as Pepe Habichuela, Jorge Pardo, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Josemi Carmona, and Juan Gómez Chicuelo, weaving artistic dialogues between tradition and contemporary creation. Her work has been honored with several awards, including at the Spring Film Festival in Barcelona and the International Festival of Almería.
In collaboration with José Maldonado, she co-created Fronteras, a critically acclaimed show presented in the United States, where dance becomes a universal language of resistance and emotion. Her latest project, Golpe de Tierra, was nominated for the Premis de la Crítica d’Arts Escèniques, highlighting the unique voice of her choreographic work.
Currently, Karen Lugo continues her artistic journey as both choreographer and performer in Juan Gómez Chicuelo’s productions Caminos and Tres Piezas, where she fully embodies the power, sensitivity, and contemporary dimension of flamenco.
