21 - 22 March | Chêne-Bourg

Hungarian dance workshop

Bonhidai Invirtita Csardas et Verbunk

Friday 21 March, 7-9.30pm (2 hours with 2 breaks of 15 minutes each) at the Maison de quartier de Chêne-Bourg (le Spot)

Saturday 22 March, 2pm-4.30pm (2 hours with 2 breaks of 15 minutes each) at Point Favre (Foyer) Av. François-Adolphe-Grison 6, 1225 Chêne-Bourg

Come and experience the rhythms of Eastern European dance! During the dance workshop, we'll be discovering two couple dances: the Csárdás and the Invirtita from Bonchida, as well as a men's dance, the Verbunk. Bonchida is a village in Transylvania where traditional music and dance are still very much alive and varied today, thanks to the influences of the three nationalities - Hungarian, Romanian and Gypsy - who live side by side and whose cultures influence and enrich each other. It will also be a dance workshop with live music, performed by four brilliant musicians who have travelled all the way from Hungary for the workshop and the Táncház. The Bonchida suite of dances will be performed during the evening dance, allowing those who have already started to dance their new steps to their heart's content.

With the dancers: József Trefeli and Zsuzsanna Thuma Campi

And the Quartett Levente:

Levente Székely: violin

Péter Árendás: brácsa (traditional viola)

Dániel Szabó: cimbalom

András Lelkes: double bass
