In this second workshop, we will explore the dance Mutxongoyo, a traditional dances practiced in the central and southern zones of Mozambique. It symbolizes the war of resistance against foreign domination. The word mutxongolo derives from Txongolo that means march in zulo and is currently executed in varied ceremonies.


Carlos Machava is a dancer of the National Dance and Singing Company of Mozambique and the Hodi Maputo Afroswing Dance Company. He dances and teaches traditional dances of Mozambique, Afroswing and other pandzula dances, Afro House.
